Jikjisa, Korea September 24-28, 2025

Jikjisa or Jikji Temple is a Zen Buddhist temple in the southern part of Korea. The history of this temple dates back to 418 CE during the time of Shilla Kingdom, and its name "Jik-Ji" means "pointing directly", i.e., pointing directly at the mind. It is borrowed from the expression "directly realize one's mind and attain Buddha Nature", a key teaching in Zen Buddhism.
This retreat will follow the Buddhist monastic schedule including opportunities to experience the temple rituals and temple food, along with silent sitting and walking meditation, Zen martial arts sessions, and conversations with the monastics of the temple. Like many major Buddhist temples in Korea, Jikjisa is surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature with many walking paths.
Participation will be limited to a very small number of participants in order to ensure a focused and intimate atmosphere for the meditation and reflections. Some prior experience and knowledge of meditation are required for this retreat.
