Jikjisa, Korea September 24-28, 2025

Nestled in the mountains of southern Korea, Jikjisa is one of the country's oldest and most revered contemplative centers, with a history dating back to 418 CE during the Shilla Kingdom. For more than sixteen centuries, it has served as a place of reflection, learning, and inner cultivation.
This retreat offers an immersive exploration of Korea's contemplative heritage and the art of mindful living. Set within the unique cultural environment of a historic temple, it invites participants to step away from the pace of everyday life and experience a different rhythm—one that encourages presence, reflection, and a deeper connection.
Participants will follow the daily rhythm of the temple community and have the opportunity to experience a range of contemplative and cultural practices, including silent sitting and walking meditation, Vipassana, Hwadoo meditation, traditional temple cuisine, Zen martial arts, temple rituals, and conversations with respected masters. These experiences offer insight into a tradition that has explored the nature of the mind, well-being, and human flourishing for centuries.
Surrounded by forests, mountains, and scenic walking paths, Jikjisa provides an exceptional setting for contemplation and renewal.
Participation is limited to a small number of guests in order to preserve an atmosphere of depth, focus, and meaningful exchange. Because the retreat includes extended periods of contemplative practice and silence, some prior experience with meditation or reflective practice is recommended.
